Not long time ago I’ve described probably the most popular way of travelling between Banjul and Dakar by local transport. This time we relax even more and decide to travel slower but cheaper.
From the border there is possibility to walk to the car park (ca 1km). But there are lots of taxi drivers in cars, on motocycles, on horses, too. If you manage to get throught this crowd of them and people exchanging money, maybe you manage to bargain a symbolic, reasonable prize. But remember, that they usually begin from the prizes out of heaven… On the parking there are minibuses on the right side. The price of the travel is nearly twice smaller than going by van for seven passengers (3500 CFA instead of 5500), but the time of the departure is unknown. If you are one of the first passengers, better prepare for some hours of waiting. If you are white, you are not going to be bored anyway. As an attraction nr 1 around you can even complain of too much company. But, please, be aware spending time with locals, that in this place most of them talk to you not just because they are friendly and interested in other culture. You are already in “give-me-a-gift land”. And if you decide to give away even the smallest thing, be prepare, that “give-me-a-gift” will just sound stronger.

Niedawno opisalam najbardziej popularny chyba sposob podrozowania miejscowych z Banjulu do Dakaru. Tym razem zrelaksujemy sie jeszcze bardziej i pojedziemy wolniej, ale i obetniemy przy okazji koszty.
Z granicy mozna sie przespacerowac (z kilometr toto moze), ale mozna tez, po przebrnieciu przez tlum natretnych taksowkarzy (samochody, motocykle, wozy konne) oraz osob oferujacych wymiane pieniedzy, zdecydowac sie na podwozke np.motocyklem, jesli kierowca zejdzie do jakiejs symbolicznej kwoty.
Po prawej stronie parkingu znajdziecie minibusy i pewnie ktorys bedzie wlasnie zbieral pasazerow do Dakaru, a jakis inny do Khaolack (po drodze do D,akaru). Cena jest prawie dwukrotnie nizsza niz miejsca w osmioosobowym vanie (3500CFA zamiast 5500), ale i godzina odjazdu moze sie bardzo przesunac i jesli jestes jednym z pierwszych pasazerow, to licz sie lepiej z kilkugodzinnym czekaniem. Nudzic sie i tak nie bedzie okazji, bo pewnie bedziesz atrakcja nr 1 jako jedyny bialy w okolicy i towarzyscy miejscowi moga cie wrecz zagadac na smierc. Ale strzez sie, bo dla wiekszosci tutaj jestes po prostu mozliwoscia zysku i mniej swiadomosc, ze malo kto jest tu przyjazny bezinteresownie. Wkroczyles juz do krainy "daj-mi-prezent" i jesli dasz komus chocby najmniejsza rzecz, badz przygotowany na caly "daj-mi-prezent" tlumek.
